The MaraWay’s bold new vision for tackling issues in our community has been driven by a Board made up of six experienced directors. They meet regularly to manage the strategic direction of the organisation, oversee financial performance, manage risk and provide advice to the team while also keeping them accountable.
All board members have corporate governance qualifications, giving them a strong understanding of the broad-ranging operational and strategic complexities of moving the organisation forward.
Three of the Board members are from the Djabugay tribe, which originates from the Kuranda rainforest. Mara means ‘hands’ in the Djabugay language, and this was the inspiration behind ‘The MaraWay’ name.
It symbolises many hands coming together to change lives and strengthen our community by helping people to help themselves.
