Nick has always put his hand out to help others. Right back from when he was the AFL Team Captain in the Palm Beach Currumbin High School ‘Sport Excellence’ program. A serious sports injury may have brought an abrupt ending to his sporting career, but it didn’t change his helping spirit (even though he was the one needing help for many years after that injury). In 2014 Nick moved to Cairns and started to turn his life around. After Joining a Reach Out Skills Program, Nick studied in 2018 and gained his Certificate III in Community Services. This covered everything from Individual Support, Mental Health, Youth Work to First Aid. One day he walked into the MaraWay Community Hub and offered to do some volunteer work. His plan was to put that passion of helping people back into action and do some volunteer hours while he finished his study. He was then offered a permanent part time role as one of the support team. Now he is doing what he loves doing and getting paid for it. Nick is driven to help our youth overcome their difficulties using sport as their motivation.
