About Us
The MaraWay is an Indigenous-led, not-for-profit organisation in Cairns rolling up its sleeves to tackle tough issues in our community. We change lives by helping people help themselves. We support people to get on track and show unconditional mutual respect. We provide vocational training, mentoring, and link participants to other beneficial services as needed. Our services continue to evolve in response to the needs of the Cairns community
About the Role
We’re seeking a compassionate and capable Case Manager to provide tailored, person-centred support that helps participants overcome barriers and build positive futures. You’ll work directly with individuals to assess needs, develop case plans, coordinate referrals, and provide ongoing mentoring and practical support.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll walk alongside people in their journey, helping to create pathways into education, training, employment, and community life. A key part of the role will involve supporting participant engagement across Cairns and Mareeba, including our 38-hectare farm, where practical skills, vocational training, and employment pathways are developed.
You’ll also contribute to the delivery of workshops and community programs, while building strong networks with local services and stakeholders to ensure participants have access to the support they need.
Key responsibilities include:
-
Building respectful, trusting relationships with participants.
-
Developing and implementing individualised case management plans.
-
Coordinating referrals and advocating with external services such as housing, health, education, and employment.
-
Supporting the delivery of workshops, training, and community activities.
-
Maintaining accurate records, reports, and case notes.
-
Ensuring compliance with organisational policies, confidentiality, and child safety.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
-
Experienced in case management, participant support, or mentoring.
-
Skilled in communication, advocacy, and problem-solving.
-
Respectful, empathetic, and committed to cultural safety.
-
Able to manage a caseload and prioritise competing demands.
What we are looking for
-
Certificate IV or higher in Community Services, Counselling, Youth Work or related field.
-
Understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural protocols.
-
Current National Police Check, Blue Card, First Aid and CPR.
-
Current Driver Licence (manual preferred).
-
Experience working with culturally diverse communities, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, will be highly regarded.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply. We value lived experience, cultural knowledge, and community connection as vital to our work.
